Unions tackle corruption

The Congress of SA Trade Unions and the SA Communist Party plan to march against corruption in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday. "The march is part of the SACP's commitment to ending corruption by working with all law enforcement agencies," said SACP KwaZulu-Natal secretary general Themba Mthembu. It would launch an anti-corruption campaign by the SACP and Cosatu. "The campaign is focused on white and blue collar crime such as tender corruption and the abuse of political office," Mthembu said. It would focus on corruption within the government and in private sector institutions such as banks and food suppliers. "We want to emphasise that we fully recognise the initiative taken by the government to fight corruption and to foster a morally responsible society," Mthembu said. He said the march from Botha's Park to the City Hall in Durban would be led by Cosatu secretary general Zwelinzima Vavi and SACP secretary general Blade
